My rig: Squier ¾ Mini Strat and diy custom mini stack
The head used to be a Squier SP-10 combo amp in its former life. It now houses a 1W LM386 amp based on a design by fellow Tumblr-user MylkStuff.View of the back: It has a speaker-out, headphones jack and switchable input-caps for bass and guitar. The matching speaker cabinet used to be a Fender Frontman B-15 bass combo.
The circuit board: a modified version of Mylk's original design with reduced gain. All active parts, incl. the clipping diodes are socketed. Blue wires next to the LM386 go to the tone stack.A Baxandall tonestack (treble and bass) sounds very nice with the reduced gain. Bass pot has a push-pull switch for mid-boost.Open heart surgery: I shortened the gutted Squier combo with a hacksaw. The tolex can be glued back on and reused. SImply fold it over and cut-off the excess material.
Bottom view of the casing after glueing the bottom back on with epoxy (the white stuff is filler). Let it cure and use a raw file to round down the edges before sanding it smooth.I also reused the Squier's steel chassis. The old holes were filled with fibreglass filler and redrilled. A new aluminium faceplate covers this.Putting everything together...
